General Questions

    • Why TutorMe?

      TutorMe hopes to provide you with an entirely personalised learning tool, allowing you to be in total control of what you learn, where you learn and when you learn. We combine the best tutors with the most up-to-date technologies to improve your learning outcomes. 

      It is the flexibility of this learning process, coupled with the high standard and specialised nature of TutorMe's tutors, which act as the primary benefits of the service. 

    • How can you help me?

      We are completely flexible to your needs. 

      Whether you need help with GCSE exam preparation, getting to grips with your university finals, or could benefit from some qualified discussion of your PhD thesis, we are on hand. 

    • Who's behind TutorMe?

      TutorMe was created in 2011 by a passionate team of educational specialists with a vision of how tutoring could be transformed using modern technology. 

    • What subjects do you cover?

      All of them! Seriously, we have tutors covering almost all subjects taught at GCSE, A-level, degree and postgraduate level in the UK, so the chances are that we cover whatever you want to be tutored in. 

Student Questions

      • Who will be teaching me?

        We choose only the highest calibre teachers to be tutors. Our tutors are at the forefront of developments in teaching theory and practice. 

      • How do I register/ sign up?

        It only takes a few minutes, sign up now. 

      • How long is a tutorial session?

        Most students have an hour-long session but you can choose to have a slightly shorter (30 mins) or slightly longer (90 mins) session. Take your pick! We would not recommend having a continuous lesson any longer than 90 minutes. 

      • How do I book a free tutorial session?

        To claim your free 30 minute tutorial session, simply login, go to ‘Get Started’ and complete the steps. You can use your free 30 minute tutorial session on any subject you like. 

      • How many tutorials can I have a week?

        You can have as many tutorials as you like. But don’t overdo it: it’s important to relax too, especially around exam periods. 

      • How far in advance can I book tutorials?

        You can book your tutorial however far in advance you wish. 

      • Can I book tutorials at short notice?

        We recommend that you book your tutorial at least a week in advance, so that we can match you up with a suitable tutor. You can, however, book last-minute tutorials and we will do our best to match you up with an expert tutor. 

      • How old do I need to be to have tuition?

        We welcome students of all ages, starting at GCSE level all the way up to postgraduate level. 

      • What if I need to cancel a lesson?

        If you need to cancel or postpone your lesson please get in touch with us and we will walk you through the process. 

      • Do I need special software to learn through TutorMe?

        No special software is required to learn through TutorMe. The TutorMe virtual classroom is browser -based and can be up and running in a matter of seconds. 

      • What do I need to start learning?

        Just sign up (it’s easy!) and make sure you have the following: 

        • A computer  

        • Google Chrome  

        • Webcam  

        • Headset with microphone  

        • Decent internet connection  

        If you have all of the above, you are ready to start learning. 

      • What tools are available in the virtual classroom?

        Lots of tools are available to boost your learning and performance. In our virtual classroom, you’ll be able to: 

        • Audio & video chat  

        • Instant text message  

        • Share documents  

        • Draw & write on the blackboard  

        Your tutorial will also be available for playback. 

      • How does TutorMe work?

      • How do I get a tutor?

        Simply login and book your tutorials, we then find you the most suitable tutor. 

      • Can I work with the same tutor again?

        Yes. You can work with your favourite tutors whenever they are available. We will always try our best to match you up with your favourite tutors. 

      • Can I review my previous sessions?

        Yes. All of your tutorials are available to play back as many times as you want. Need to re-run through that explanation? No problem!  

      • What if I am not happy with my tutorial?

        After each tutorial we will ask you to provide feedback on your tutor. If you are not completely happy with your tutorial, we will credit you a free tutorial, and we’ll investigate further.

Tutor Questions

      • What qualifications are required to become a tutor for TutorMe?

        Whilst having formal teaching qualifications may be advantageous, it is by no means a prerequisite. We are always looking for inspiring tutors. We’re interested in hearing from experienced teachers or tutors, who are enthusiastic and passionate about their subject and have a strong desire to help others learn. 

      • Do I have to work certain hours as a tutor?

        You can choose to work as much or as little as you want. 

      • How does the process work?

        A list of tutor jobs will be visible to TutorMe tutors in the tutor portal. The tutor will be able to see what the student needs help with, the date of tutorial and the time. The tutor can then apply for the tutor jobs that suit their own timetable. The TutorMe team will then review applications for each tutor job and pick the most suitable tutor. 

      • How much will I get paid?

        If you are tutoring GCSE/ A-level you will be paid £20ph, for undergraduate/ postgraduate level you will be paid £25ph. 

      • What system requirements must I meet?

        To start tutoring, you will need the following: 

        • A computer  

        • Google Chrome  

        • Webcam  

        • Headset with microphone  

        • Decent internet connection

      • What are the next steps?

      • How much tutoring work will I get?

        This varies since it is based on student demand, though you can expect to be busier during revision/ exam periods.
